Bwala Blasts Northern Politicians Urging Jonathan’s Return, Says They Once Chased Him Out

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has taken a swipe at northern politicians reportedly lobbying former President Goodluck Jonathan to contest in 2027.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Bwala accused these politicians of being the same people who worked to remove Jonathan from power in 2015. He questioned their sincerity, warning that Jonathan might not enjoy overwhelming support from the South either, as several governors in the region have already endorsed Tinubu.

“The elements that are going to him in the North, asking him to come to run, were they not the ones that chased him away? So what hope does he have that this time around they mean well for him?” Bwala asked, adding that the political class pushing Jonathan may have ulterior motives.

Jonathan, who led Nigeria from 2010 to 2015, has yet to officially declare any interest in the 2027 presidential race.
