Cancer Survivor Speaks Out After Medical Report Was Allegedly Altered in Blessing CEO Controversy

Deborah Mbara, the woman whose medical document became central to the growing controversy involving social media personality Blessing CEO, has broken her silence, saying her cancer report was altered and used without her permission in a way that left her deeply traumatised.

Mbara, a makeup artist and cancer survivor, spoke in an emotional Instagram video after the Nigerian Medical Association publicly stated that the pathology report circulated online by Blessing CEO was not hers, but a manipulated version of an original medical result issued to Mbara.

According to the association, the report was traced to Xinus Medical Diagnostics, which reportedly confirmed that it never issued any such document to Blessing CEO. Instead, the test was said to have been conducted in May 2025 for Mbara through a referring hospital in Asaba.

Mbara explained that Blessing CEO had reached out to her privately under the impression that she needed help understanding her own medical situation. Believing she was speaking with someone genuinely going through a difficult health battle, Mbara said she shared her own diagnosis report in good faith so it could be compared with the one Blessing CEO claimed to have received.

What shocked her, she said, was later discovering that her report had allegedly been doctored and posted online to support a public cancer claim that also attracted donations. She described the experience as deeply painful, especially because she had approached the situation from a place of empathy and support.

She also dismissed claims that she and Blessing CEO had no prior contact, alleging that the influencer later came to Asaba to apologise to her husband and family after the controversy escalated.

The issue has sparked public outrage, not only because of the alleged misuse of a survivor’s private medical record, but also because it raises serious questions about trust, online fundraising, and the exploitation of sensitive health experiences for sympathy or financial gain.

For many observers, this controversy goes beyond celebrity drama. It touches on privacy, ethics, and the emotional cost of turning serious illness into online content.
