Celebrated Police Officer, SP Ekeinde Hangs Up Badge, Retires From Police Force

…Expresses gratitude to IGP Kayode Egbetokun, AIGs, CPs, DCPs, others

COMMENDATIONS and praises flowed freely as SP Samson Ekeinde, one of Nigeria’s celebrated and finest Police officers, pulled out of the Force, today, January 1, 2025 in a grand style, after 35 years fruitful and meritorious years of dedicated service to the Nigeria Police.

SP Ekeinde (Rtd), surrounded by Senior officers, family, and friends, described his service to the nation as a fulfilled one, reflecting on his years of dedicated service to the Nigeria Police Force.

While responding to newsmen, he said, “I am filled with a deep sense of gratitude. It has been a privilege to serve alongside such courageous and committed individuals who have worked tirelessly to maintain law and order, often under challenging circumstances. Your loyalty, discipline, and selflessness have inspired me throughout my career.

“Today, being 1st January, 2025, as I step into retirement, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to God Almighty and all Senior Officers for your mentorship, support, collaboration, and camaraderie most importantly IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun , PhD, NPM. “I also want to take this opportunity to express my profound gratitude to my beloved wives and children. Your unwavering love, patience, and understanding have been my anchor during times of trials and triumphs. You stood by me through the demanding schedules, sleepless nights, and sacrifices that came with this career, and for that, I am eternally grateful.

“As I embark on this new chapter, I look back with pride and gratitude and look forward with hope and determination to continue serving my community in new ways. May God bless you all and continue to protect and guide the Nigeria Police Force in its noble mission.”

SP Samson Ekeinde, joined the Force on 1st of January, 1990, during the military administration of General Ibrahim Babangida as Police Constable (PC) and retired on 1st of January, 2025, as a Superintendent (SP).

He began his service to the nation in Niger State in 1990 and, last served as Commander Safer Highways, Bayelsa State Command.

He was a certified Drill instructor for eleven years at Police Training School, Minna and Police College, Kaduna.

SP Samson Ekeinde (Rtd) also served in the Police Mobile Force, (Mopol) where he went for several operations in the North East of Borno and Yobe States of Nigeria. He was a unit commander between 2016 and 2018, during the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s former President.

He used the opportunity of being in the Force to help interested Owan people to join the Force.

His retirement marks the end of an era, but his legacy will continue to inspire and motivate officers and men of the Nigeria Police.
