CIS David Oluwole Adebambo, Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Lagos State, recently received a delegation of media and entertainment industry stakeholders who came to celebrate his service and appreciate his strong leadership.
The team was led by Ambassador Cornel Udofia, Publisher of The Gladiators Magazine and Founder of Kick Against Crime in Our Society. Among them were Lady Adaobi Enekwa, Publisher of Blissful Affairs Magazine, a renowned movie producer, and convener of the Blissful Affairs Awards; Queen Campbell, veteran musician and a member of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN); Oluchi Millicent Okafor, Chief Welfare Officer of CMC Gladiators Group and a real estate expert; Dr. Champion Onyekwelu, a well-known news analyst and Chief Anchor at CMC Events; Gbenga Nelson, CEO of Dutch TV Online and former Chief Reporter at NTA 2 Channel 5; and Friday Elechukwu, a reporter with Lagos Television (LTV).
During their visit, the delegation presented an award to CIS Adebambo in recognition of his outstanding service, professionalism, and strong commitment to upholding human rights and delivering excellence within the NIS.
While delivering a message on their behalf, Ambassador Udofia described CIS Adebambo as a true role model in law enforcement — a man whose fairness, discipline, and hard work have made a measurable and positive difference in both the Immigration Service and the community.
He explained that the visit was meant to show support for Adebambo’s ongoing efforts, promote the good image of the NIS, and collaborate toward strengthening national security under his leadership in Lagos. He also commended Adebambo’s zero-tolerance policy on corruption and his passion for preserving the highest standards of professionalism — reflecting the values of the Comptroller General, Kemi Nanna Nandap, in Abuja.
The delegation also used the opportunity to formally introduce their media, entertainment, and security platforms, with the aim of fostering a strong and mutually beneficial working relationship. They recognized the contributions of Comptroller (Rtd) Abdulateef Adoga Elelu, a close friend of CIS Adebambo, honoring him with a medal for his service.
Other women officers were also recognized for their hard work, professionalism, and loyalty to the NIS — including DCI MU Abang, ASI1 A.A Chinyere, and ASI1 F.S Keshinro.
In his response, CIS Adebambo warmly appreciated Ambassador Udofia and the CMC delegation for honoring him and his team. He stressed the crucial role that the media plays in preventing crime and strengthening law enforcement, noting that continued collaboration is key to delivering a safe and secure country for all.
CIS Adebambo, who has been in service for over 32 years, is due to retire in June 2025. He also used the opportunity to appreciate the Comptroller General, Kemi Nanna Nandap, for trusting him with the opportunity to serve in Lagos.
Comptroller General Nandap was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on March 1, 2024, and her tenure is expected to continue until December 31, 2026. Nandap’s career in the NIS began on October 9, 1989, and under her leadership, the service is poised to reach new heights in securing the country’s borders and preserving its stability.
The NIS is responsible for securing borders, managing migration, and strengthening national security — a crucial role in ensuring the peace, stability, and progress of the country.
