COMRADE Bobby Eghosa Obayuwana, a public affairs analyst and development communication expert, has strongly condemned the actions of Prof. Mahmud Yakubu, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), labeling him as a “Professor of Election Rigging in Nigeria.”
Obayuwana, an ardent supporter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in a social media post earlier today alleged that Yakubu’s tenure as INEC Chairman since 2015 has been marred by controversial elections, characterized by prejudice, bias, fraud, and manipulation.
Obayuwana specifically highlighted the 2023 elections and the recent 2024 Edo Gubernatorial Elections as examples of Yakubu’s alleged electoral malpractices. He claimed that the outcomes of these elections did not reflect the true will of the people, leading to widespread dissatisfaction.
Citing the recent United States Presidential elections as a model of free, fair, and transparent democracy, Obayuwana urged Nigerians to resist electoral manipulation and rigging through INEC. He further called for Yakubu’s outright sack and life imprisonment, branding him a “political terrorist and shameless electoral criminal.”
Obayuwana also appealed to the Nigerian judiciary to redeem its image by ensuring just and fair judgments in favor of those who have been wrongly denied their electoral victories. He emphasized that the law should be above everyone, and that no individual should be above it.
