Court Declares Businesswoman Olubunmi Akintoye Wanted Over ₦233 Million Theft Case

The Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja has declared one Olubunmi Akintoye wanted after she failed to appear in court for her ongoing trial. Justice A.O. Okunuga issued a bench warrant for her arrest on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, following her absence.

Akintoye, who trades under the name Fola Mart International, was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on May 25, 2022, on a 12-count charge bordering on stealing a total sum of ₦233 million. The funds reportedly belonged to Alhaja Bolaji Fowosire and Iceland International Limited.

According to the charge sheet, Akintoye allegedly converted ₦25 million on October 11, 2021, and another ₦30 million on October 12, 2021, for her personal use. She had earlier pleaded “not guilty” to all charges when they were read to her in court.

During Tuesday’s session, EFCC counsel, R.A. AbdulRasheed, informed the court that the defendant was last seen in court on October 15, 2024. He urged the court to revoke her bail and grant an order for her immediate arrest.

Justice Okunuga granted the request and ordered that Akintoye be apprehended. The case has been adjourned until November 17, 2025, for further proceedings.
