COZA’s Pastor Fatoyinbo Apologises Over Remarks on Apostle Babalola

Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, leader of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), has publicly apologised following backlash over comments he made about the late Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola, the revered first General Evangelist of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC).

The controversy began after a sermon where Fatoyinbo praised Apostle Babalola’s powerful anointing but suggested his “grace” didn’t endure because he lacked material wealth. The remark sparked outrage, with many accusing the COZA pastor of disrespecting the late spiritual leader’s legacy.

In a statement, Fatoyinbo insisted his words were taken out of context, explaining that clips circulating online omitted the full message. He stressed that he never spoke negatively about Apostle Babalola, his children, or his ministry — and would never do so.

“If any part of my statement caused hurt or distress to the CAC, the family of Apostle Babalola, or his associates, I sincerely apologise,” he said. “I pray the matter is put to rest and that the legacy of our father, Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola, continues to grow in leaps and bounds.”
