CRS: Livestock Feeds Empowers GGSS Tokarawa With 100 Birds To Boost Poultry Farming

LIVESTOCKS Feeds Plc, has on Tuesday presented 100 birds (layers) to Government Girls Secondary School, Tokarawa, in Nassarawa LGA, Kano as part of the firm’s Corporate Social Responsibility.

Making the disclosure after the empowerment the Human Resources Manager, of the Company Adeniji Adejola described the gesture as a way of encouraging the Girl Child to grew up with the zeal of paultry farming in order to bridge gender inequality.

Adejola said “Everywhere we operate, we endeavour to contribute to the socio-economic development of the immediate community.

We earlier done similar thing in the South Lagos in particular and Aba Eastern part of the Country .

He said Lagos state is where our production location is and we also have a production site in Aba. Last year, we provided a borehole in Aba and here we are in Kano today commissioning a Poultry project for Girls Secondary School.Tokarawa ”

According to him, the company chose to present the Poultry economic empowerment project to the Girls Secondary because it is sited within their production area, which he said will go a long way towards making the students to be self-reliant

Similarly, the presentation of the birds is part of firm’s interventions towards the promotion of Girl-Child education in accordance, with the United Nations policy to bridge gender inequality.

“What a man can do, a girl can do better, if they properly manage and sustain the start-up pack, within a short period of time, it will multiply in double folds. These are layers, which will lay eggs, they will generate income from the birds.”

In addition, he noted that as a Secondary School, where some of the girls are studying Agriculture, it will help them to acquire both the theoritical and practical knowledge of maintaining and sustaining poultry business.

“It is an opportunity for the girls to practicalize all what they were taught in School in theories.”

Earlier in her welcome address, the Principal of the School, Hajiya Hadiza Usman thanked the management of Live Stock Feeds for the good gesture, promising that she will make good the opportunity toward influencing some of the girls to become entrepreneurs in Poultry business.
