Dele Momodu Blasts Tinubu, Says Nigeria Under ‘Civilian Dictatorship’

Veteran journalist and publisher, Dele Momodu, has accused President Bola Tinubu of running the country like a civilian dictatorship. He made the remarks in a post shared on X on Wednesday evening.

Momodu emphasised that constructive criticism is vital for democracy and should not be silenced or reserved only for political opponents. According to him, attempts to gag opposing voices pose a serious danger to Nigeria’s democratic system.

He stated that while he chooses to be civil in his criticism, Tinubu’s supporters should not forget the harsh and derogatory words they once used against him before suddenly switching sides. He warned against collective amnesia, stressing that Nigerians cannot ignore past realities.

Reaffirming his stance, Momodu wrote that he “stands gidigba” by his view, insisting that his loyalty is first to Nigeria above any other consideration.
