Our brother, Dennis Idahosa, the deputy governor of Edo State, now popularly dubbed ceremonial deputy governor, may go down as one of the most unfortunate players in the Okpebholo-led administration.
This is following the systemic marginalization the young DG faces despite being number 2 in the State.
Idahosa, more like an onlooker, an observer in the show, has been weakened, stripped of most critical privileges, and made to look like he should have remained in the House of Representatives.
It is no longer news that Okpebholo fears Idahosa may grow big wings if he allows certain privileges for the young man, even though it was Idahosa’s role that paved the way for Okpebholo’s emergence—the governor continue to look at Idahosa with “corner eye”.
Idahosa’s recommendations for appointments are said to always end in the thrash can, decisions are taken about his primary constituency Ovia behind his back, since coming on-board, Idahosa has only been able to influence the appointment of his Press Secretary, Friday Aghedo, as others have been disregarded—Idahosa is said to feel very uncomfortable with the ugly development, even though he can do little or nothing.
Where Idahosa belongs in Okpebholo’s government remains largely unknown, despite being deputy governor, many however believe that the marginalized DG is one entity, lost in the mix, largely unaware of happenings in his own government.
