Digital Diplomacy Africa Launches to Empower Young Africans in Tech and Global Affairs

Digital Diplomacy Africa (DDA) has officially gone live on Facebook and Instagram, unveiling an ambitious vision to empower young Africans to lead conversations at the intersection of technology, innovation, and diplomacy.

Founded by Ghanaian global affairs leader and media entrepreneur Ernestina Muulikaa, the initiative seeks to harness digital tools to strengthen Africa’s voice in 21st-century diplomacy. “Digital diplomacy is no longer a concept for the future—it is here, and Africa must be part of the conversation,” Muulikaa told Africa Briefing.

At the heart of the project is the DDA Fellowship, set for May–June 2026. The six-week online programme will train tech-minded Africans in artificial intelligence, connectivity, and digital networking. Beyond technical skills, participants will receive mentorship and leadership coaching, culminating in a pitching competition where top projects will receive seed funding, global exposure, and expert guidance.

To scale its impact, DDA is seeking partnerships with tech firms, policy institutions, and development organisations. Partners will provide funding, expertise, and mentorship, helping to create a pipeline of African innovators who can engage in global policy and technological debates.

The launch reflects the growing role of digital platforms in diplomacy, from AI governance to online negotiations. By placing young Africans at the centre of these discussions, DDA aims to close representation gaps, amplify African success stories, and shift global perceptions.

In the near term, DDA will focus on building its online community and forming strategic alliances ahead of the 2026 fellowship. Through campaigns, dialogues, and virtual events, it hopes to connect youth across the continent and the diaspora.

“We are creating a generation of leaders who are digitally literate, globally minded, and ready to influence the technologies and policies that will define our future,” Muulikaa explained.

For its founder, DDA is not just an organisation but a movement to amplify Africa’s digital voice in global corridors of power.
