Dr. Tom Obaseki, Chairman of Oredo Government Council, debuted the innovative Oredopay.ng”, an online platform in March 2024, transforming the way tariffs, applications, and business transactions are handled in the Council.

Dr. Obaseki unveiled the groundbreaking platform at the launching ceremony in Urokpota Townhall center, signaling a new era of governance that would render the ineffective old order obsolete.
Addressing a packed audience at the Oredo townhall in Urokpota, he emphasized, “this recognition validates our collective efforts to transform Oredo. We will continue harnessing technology and innovative solutions to fuel growth, enhance lives, and position Oredo as a global model.”

The GovTech Public Service Awards organized by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, an arm of the office of the Presidency, aimed at celebrating excellence in public service innovation, recognized Dr. Tom Obaseki, Chairman of Oredo Government Council, for his exceptional innovations in public service drive.
The event, held in Abuja , awarded him, “The Digital Local Government of the Year award for 2024”.
This prestigious honor underscores Dr. Obaseki’s commitment to transforming Oredo into a model of excellence.

Reacting to the award, the Council Chief noted; “Interestingly everything was locally done. We did not buy any application from anybody outside Nigeria. It was put together by a Nigerian firm, but we have to guide them because of the kind of solutions we wanted for the people”

With the conclusion of the integration of the application Oredo is set to be the very first Local Government Council in nigeria that will be earning IGR in forex through services delivered to our huge diaspora population
