IN a significant development heralding a new era of healthcare excellence, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu last year approved the confirmation of Dr. Philip Ibukun Ugbodaga as the substantive Medical Director of the newly established National Orthopaedic Hospital in Edo State.
Dr. Ugbodaga, a seasoned healthcare professional with a proven track record, had previously served in an acting capacity, showcasing his expertise and commitment to the hospital’s mission of providing top-notch orthopaedic care to the community.
Despite being appointed in an acting capacity earlier, Dr. Ugbodaga faced a protracted struggle to attain the official confirmation of his appointment. This battle, rife with political intricacies and bureaucratic challenges, tested his resilience and commitment to service.
Yesterday, in a gesture of appreciation and acknowledgment of the support extended to him throughout the confirmation process, Dr. Ugbodaga made a significant visit to the office of the Minister of Niger Delta Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh FNSE, at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja. There, he personally presented his appointment letter to the Minister, expressing his gratitude for the role played by the government in facilitating his confirmation.
The encounter between Dr. Ugbodaga and Minister Abubakar Momoh epitomized a collaborative spirit and shared dedication to enhancing healthcare delivery in the Niger Delta region. It emphasized the crucial role of robust partnerships between governmental bodies and healthcare practitioners in fostering positive transformations and ensuring equitable access to high-quality healthcare services for all.
In his remarks, Minister Momoh also extended appreciation for the contributions of the Minister of State for Health towards achieving this significant milestone.
As Dr. Ugbodaga assumes his responsibilities as Chief Medical Director, his unwavering commitment to excellence and patient-centered care assures a rise in the standards of orthopaedic healthcare in Edo State. His appointment serves as a beacon of optimism for the community, instilling trust in the future of healthcare provision under his guidance.
