Edo Governor Orders Commissioners to Wear Tinubu-Branded Outfits as Proof of Loyalty

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has directed members of his newly inaugurated cabinet to openly show their loyalty to President Bola Tinubu by wearing outfits bearing the president’s insignia.

The governor gave this directive on Tuesday during the swearing-in of newly appointed commissioners and the inauguration of various boards and commissions in Benin City. He credited his political success to Tinubu’s support, noting that the president’s backing played a key role in his emergence. “This could not have happened if we did not have a responsible president. We have done many elections here, and the major problem we have had is that the president is not with us, but today we say thank you,” Okpebholo said.

He further warned that any commissioner attending executive council meetings without the Asiwaju-branded cap would be turned back. “I will not forgive any commissioner that is not wearing this cap. In our exco meetings, if you are not wearing a suit and you are coming to the meeting without this Asiwaju cap, you will go back,” he declared.

While stressing loyalty to the president, Okpebholo reminded the commissioners that their appointments were not political rewards but calls to serve the people of Edo State. “Your nominations did not come as a reward or patronage, but as a call to serve the people of Edo State,” he said.

The governor urged the appointees to uphold discipline, teamwork, and integrity, noting that his administration maintains zero tolerance for corruption. “Your success will be measured by your impact in bringing about better services and opportunities to our people,” he emphasized.

Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), was among the dignitaries present at the event, which highlighted Okpebholo’s continued alignment with President Tinubu’s political influence and governance philosophy.
