EDO STATE COUNCIL OF NIGERIA LABOUR CONGRESS EXPRESSES SHOCK ON THE SUDDEN DEATH Of THISDAY SENIOR JOURNALIST, ADIBE EMENYONU
Edo State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has expressed deep shock and sadness on the news of the sudden death of Comrade Adibe Emenyonu, the State Correspondent of Thisday Newspaper in Benin City.
Edo NLC described his death as a colossal loss and a major setback to the practice of journalism in Edo State in particular, and the country at large.
In the press statement signed by Prof. Monday Lewis Igbafen, Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Edo Council of NLC, the NLC condoled with members of the immediate and extended family of Comrade Adibe Emenyonu, the management and staff of Thisday Newspaper, his close associates and colleagues, and the Edo State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) for the loss.
”Edo State NLC is saddened by the news of this death, given the fact that there was no report of him being sick. It is a sad and trying moment for us all, and we seek the benevolence of the Almighty God to grant us all, including the immediate family, the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss”, Edo NLC said.
Edo NLC maintained that his sudden death should serve as a wake-up call on all practising journalists in the State to embrace the habit of regular health checks to mitigate any threat of sudden death.
