EFCC Calls on Victims of Crypto Bridge Exchange Scam to Assist Investigations

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has appealed to Nigerians who lost money to the now-collapsed online trading platform, Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX), to come forward and assist with ongoing investigations at its Ibadan and Lagos offices.

In a statement on Friday, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, revealed that three suspects — Adefowoara Abiodun Olanipekun, Otorudo Avwerosuo, and Ehirim Justice Chukwuebuka — are already facing prosecution for their alleged roles in the multi-million-naira scam.

The Commission explained that CBEX enticed investors with promises of high returns on cryptocurrency investments but eventually folded, leaving countless Nigerians stranded and financially devastated. Victims reportedly invested funds through the platform’s offices in Ibadan, Oyo State, and Idimu, Lagos, which they are now unable to recover.

“The scheme resulted in significant financial losses for investors who were lured by unrealistic promises of returns. To aid our ongoing investigation, we are urging victims who invested through individuals linked to the CBEX offices in Ibadan and Idimu to report to our Ibadan Zonal Directorate or Lagos Zonal Directorate 2,” the statement added.

By coming forward, victims can help the EFCC strengthen its case, bring the perpetrators to justice, and prevent further scams targeting unsuspecting Nigerians.
