EFCC Returns Properties and Cash to Victim of Fake Spiritualist in Ibadan

Justice came full circle in Ibadan as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) returned properties and ₦1.1 million to Mr. Daniel Attiogbe, a victim of a notorious fake spiritualist and fraudster, Fatai Alli, popularly known as Baba Abore or Baba Osun.

The EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, officially handed over the recovered assets in a brief ceremony at the Commission’s Ibadan Zonal Directorate. According to EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the properties were proceeds of crime seized from Alli, who had defrauded Attiogbe under the guise of spiritual assistance.

Among the recovered assets were a five-bedroom duplex with an adjoining bungalow in Odo-ona, a two-flat bungalow at Lapiti Layout, and another three-bedroom bungalow in Idi Ayunre, all in Ibadan. The Commission also returned two vehicles — a Honda Pilot SUV and a Toyota Corolla — alongside the recovered cash.

While presenting the documents, Olukoyede reaffirmed the EFCC’s commitment to justice and transparency. “Obeying court orders is not optional. What we’re doing today shows that the EFCC operates strictly within the law and stands for fairness,” he said.

He added that the Commission remains resolute in its mission to dismantle fraud networks and restore confidence in Nigeria’s justice system. “We will not rest until every fraudulent person damaging the country’s image faces justice,” he emphasized.

Overwhelmed with gratitude, Attiogbe praised the EFCC for its professionalism and integrity. “I’m deeply thankful for your diligence and commitment. This has restored my faith in justice,” he said.

The restitution followed a final forfeiture order by Justice Uche Agomoh of the Federal High Court in Ibadan — a reminder that, though justice may take time, it eventually arrives.
