Abuja – The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has confirmed that Ethiopian Airlines has paid the sanction fees imposed on it earlier this year for consumer protection-related violations.
The confirmation was made on Monday by Michael Achimugu, the NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, through his official X handle.
According to Achimugu, with Ethiopian Airlines’ compliance, all three international airlines sanctioned by the Authority in 2025 have now fully met the penalty requirements.
He clarified that the sanctions were not punitive but corrective, designed to strengthen service quality and ensure that airlines operating within Nigeria uphold passenger rights and consumer protection standards.
“The sanctions are intended to help improve the services of the operators and not to punish them,” Achimugu stated.
Reaffirming the NCAA’s commitment to its regulatory mandate, he emphasized that the Authority remains firm in protecting the interests of passengers, operators, and all aviation stakeholders across the country.
Earlier this year, the NCAA sanctioned three international carriers over various infractions relating to poor customer service and violation of passenger rights.
