Former Senior Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Domestic Matters and Social Events, Dr. Waripamo-Owei Dudafa, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement released on Saturday in Yenagoa, Dudafa, who also once served as a member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, said his decision came after deep reflection and consultations with political associates, supporters, and family members.
In his resignation letter to the PDP Chairman of Southern Opokuma/Ayibabiri Ward 8 in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, Dudafa expressed appreciation for his years in the party, describing them as a period of shared commitment to common values and goals.
He explained that persistent internal disputes within the PDP had weakened its effectiveness, making it necessary to seek a new political path. “This decision was not taken lightly but after due consultation with my friends, political associates, and family members who have stood by me over the years,” he said.
The former presidential aide, known to be a close associate of Jonathan, confirmed his move to the APC and encouraged his followers to stay steadfast as he embarks on what he called “a new chapter” in his political journey.
Political observers view Dudafa’s defection as part of a broader wave of realignments in Bayelsa State ahead of upcoming political developments.
