Excess Taxes, Adultrators Hinders Production Operations— ATWAP

FREEPRESS – The need to place premium consideration on consumers interest in production activities over excess taxes and the society to rid sub-standard products across board has received a massive attention following an advocacy and sensitization bid embarked upon by the Association of Table Water Producers,ATWAP, Edo State Chapter in Benin City.

Speaking exclusively to our correspondent, the Chairman of the Association, Mr. Eiremiokhae Henry, posited that the primary objective of the organization was structured to ensure that its members harmonize to sanitize the industry in Collaboration with other relevant agencies to put the interest of the consumers into serious consideration with a view to protect them.

“Our main objective is to protect the consumers and harmonize to ensure in our operations the business interest of the consumers are put into considerations. We are of the opinion that when we come together, we would sanitize the industry in collaboration with other relevant agencies like NAFDAC, SON and CPA,” he said

Adding that,”relatively the world health organization acceptable standard for water consumption is between 6.5 to 8.5 ph level so anything less than this is either acidic or highly alkaline which is not good for our system. In all of this you can not rule out contracting typhoid and malaria in taking water below regulatory standard. But in a situation were it falls short of that, it means we are injecting poison to the system.

The  chairman who also commended the commissioner for energy and water resources, mr washington osifo accused of raising dust over substandard table water production whilst he massively destroy handful of adultrators in the state capital recently, adding that, it was the right step in the right direction while calling on various stakeholders to follow suit in its fight against perpetrators.

Mr.Eiremiokhae however lamented that, controlling the menace has been issue prevailing against its fight against quackery but stressed they have been able to recertify members certification to operates in doing so, they have also resolved to partner  the media on advocacies and sensitization to address the general public on the hazards. “By the time we have committed members who are interested in their investment,then we could manage it appropriately,”he emphasised
