Former EFCC Chairperson, Farida Waziri, has paid a heartfelt tribute to late former President Muhammadu Buhari, saying his passing is not just a national loss but a deeply personal moment for her.
In a condolence message released in Abuja on Wednesday, Waziri described Buhari as a man whose life embodied rare values that continue to inspire, even in death.
“His passing has touched the hearts of millions across Nigeria,” she wrote. “It reminds us that in the end, we’re remembered not just for the offices we held, but for the values we upheld.”
For Waziri, Buhari was much more than a leader—he was a symbol of discipline, incorruptibility, and unwavering moral courage. From his days as a military ruler to his later years as a democratically elected president, she said his stand against corruption remained firm and unshaken.
“He walked a path of integrity, even when it meant walking alone,” she noted. “He lived modestly, acted justly, and held himself to a higher standard.”
But Waziri’s tribute wasn’t just a reflection on national service. It was personal. She recounted how, under Buhari’s presidency, her long-standing police retirement rank was corrected—an act she said spoke volumes about his quiet fairness and commitment to justice.
“In a system where justice is often elusive, President Buhari stood firm for what was right,” she said. “That single decision impacted my life and validated the principle that integrity still matters.”
As Nigerians continue to reflect on Buhari’s legacy, Waziri says his story must not be forgotten.
“He was a soldier, a statesman, and a man of integrity,” she said. “May history remember him kindly. And may his soul find peaceful repose.”
