The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has appealed to the public for assistance in identifying a suspect linked to the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
In a statement released Thursday on X, the FBI confirmed it is offering a reward of up to $100,000 for credible information that could lead to the identification and arrest of those responsible for Kirk’s murder. The incident occurred on September 10, 2025, during an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.
As part of the investigation, the Bureau also released two photographs of the suspected shooter. According to Sky News, law enforcement had earlier recovered a weapon of interest in connection with the crime.
Charlie Kirk, a close ally of former U.S. President Donald Trump and founder of the youth conservative organization Turning Point USA, was pronounced dead after being shot during the university event. Trump confirmed the news on his Truth Social platform, describing Kirk as “The Great, and even Legendary,” and praising him as a leader who deeply understood America’s youth. He extended condolences to Kirk’s wife, Erika, and his family.
Initial reports created confusion regarding official confirmation of Kirk’s death. Utah House Speaker Mike Schultz had publicly condemned the attack, calling it “unacceptable and dangerous,” but did not directly announce Kirk’s passing. His statement emphasized that political disagreements must never escalate into violence.
Kirk rose to prominence as one of the most influential figures in the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement. His organization, Turning Point USA, played a key role in grassroots mobilization that helped drive voter turnout during Trump’s 2024 campaign. Following Trump’s victory, Kirk joined the president-elect’s inner circle at Mar-a-Lago, although he declined to assume a government post, choosing instead to expand his influence through his widely popular podcast, which draws nearly six million monthly listeners.
The FBI is urging anyone with information about the suspect to come forward immediately.
