FCTA Workers to March Peacefully in Solidarity Amid Legal Dispute with Minister Wike

The Joint Union Action Congress (JUAC) of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced plans to mobilise workers for a peaceful solidarity march to the National Industrial Court in Abuja on Monday, January 26, 2026.

The march comes in response to legal action filed by FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, against organised labour over unresolved issues regarding workers’ conditions of service, welfare, and other labour matters. JUAC called on all FCTA workers to turn out en masse to demonstrate unity and support for legitimate labour demands.

JUAC Secretary Abdullahi Umar Saleh emphasised that the march will be strictly peaceful, lawful, and fully compliant with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, existing labour laws, and Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) guidelines on public demonstrations. Participants are to assemble at the FCTA Minister’s Gate at 6:00am before proceeding to the National Industrial Court on Gimbiya Street, Area 11, Abuja.

The unions stressed discipline during the exercise, urging workers to follow instructions from designated union marshals and avoid any provocation. JUAC framed the action as a demonstration of commitment to justice, fairness, and the protection of labour rights, invoking the long-standing labour slogan: “An injury to one is an injury to all. Let us stand united.”

The march underscores the labour movement’s determination to pursue its demands through lawful means while maintaining solidarity amid the ongoing legal dispute with the FCT Minister.
