Female Police Officer Abducted and Killed in Anambra Amid Rising Violence in Ogidi

A female police officer serving with the Ogidi Division in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State has been found dead after being kidnapped by unidentified assailants. The officer, identified as a Woman Inspector and known to serve as a prosecutor in the division, was reportedly abducted on Thursday and discovered lifeless in a bush the following morning.

Sources within the police confirmed the shocking development, revealing that a disturbing video of the deceased has been circulating online. The motive behind her abduction and killing remains unknown, but the incident has deepened fears across Ogidi, a community already grappling with escalating insecurity and violent attacks.

Tensions in Ogidi have been high following a string of violent incidents. On September 11, 2025, suspected cultists unleashed terror at a burial ceremony in Ezi Village, killing four people and leaving about fifteen others injured. Eyewitnesses said the attackers, believed to belong to a rival cult group, arrived on motorcycles and opened fire indiscriminately, forcing mourners to scatter in panic.

The recent murder of the police officer has now sparked outrage and concern over the safety of security operatives and residents in Anambra. Authorities are yet to issue an official statement, but investigations are expected to be launched immediately to uncover the perpetrators and restore calm to the troubled community.
