The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering open dialogue between the government, oil marketers, and airline operators to build a transparent and fair aviation fuel supply chain — one that balances economic sustainability with smooth flight operations.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), made this pledge while speaking at the Gateway Colloquium in Lagos. The event, themed “Aviation Fuel Business: The Scenario and the Metaphor,” was organized by CITA in partnership with the League of Airports and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC).
Represented by Henry Agbebire, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Keyamo emphasized that aviation fuel is not just another commodity — it’s the heartbeat of airline operations. He noted that its fluctuating prices, supply instability, and infrastructural bottlenecks remain serious threats to efficiency and affordability in the aviation sector.
“The metaphor challenges us to reimagine our energy future,” Keyamo said, urging stakeholders to push for innovation and environmental responsibility in the sector.
He further assured that the ministry is devoted to crafting policies and partnerships that guarantee availability, accessibility, and affordability of aviation fuel, adding that collaboration is the path toward a more sustainable and resilient aviation industry.
“This conversation,” he said, “is not just about identifying problems, but building solutions that make Nigerian aviation stronger.”
