FG Opens Applications for 2026 PTDF Overseas Scholarships

The Federal Government has opened applications for the 2026 Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Overseas Scholarship Scheme, giving Nigerian postgraduate students the chance to study in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Malaysia. The announcement was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Dada Olusegun, Special Adviser to the President on Social Media, on Monday.

The scheme targets MSc and PhD candidates in fields relevant to the oil and gas industry, offering full tuition, return flight tickets, accommodation, living allowances, health insurance, and bench fees where applicable. According to PTDF, the scholarships aim to provide world-class training and research opportunities while building Nigeria’s local expertise in the petroleum sector.

PhD candidates in the UK will benefit from a split-site arrangement, conducting research both at the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Kaduna (CPESK), and partner universities including Robert Gordon University, University of Strathclyde, and University of Portsmouth. The scholarships are highly competitive, with selection based on academic records, research proposals, professional memberships, and relevance to the oil and gas industry.

Eligibility for MSc applicants includes a minimum Second Class Lower (2.2) degree, completion of the NYSC programme, computer literacy, and five O’Level credits including English Language and Mathematics. PhD candidates must also submit a research proposal of up to five pages. Applicants must have verified National Identity Numbers (NIN), and any falsified documents or multiple applications will result in disqualification.

Interested candidates should apply online at scholarship.ptdf.gov.ng before the closing date on February 27, 2026.
