Panic broke out in Ibadan on Friday night after Fresh 105.9 FM, the popular radio station owned by gospel singer Yinka Ayefele, was reportedly engulfed by fire. The station, located in the Challenge area of the city, drew crowds of worried residents as thick smoke filled the night sky.
Eyewitnesses said the blaze started suddenly and quickly spread within the building. One witness, Samuel Ibikunle, raised an alarm in desperation: “Fresh FM is currently on fire! We urgently need the Fire Service to respond immediately. Please spread the word and alert the nearest station.” His call highlighted the panic and urgency of the moment as many feared the worst.
Although the management of Fresh FM has not yet released an official statement, authorities confirmed the incident. The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, assured the public that firefighters were already on the ground battling the flames.
The station, which has grown into one of Ibadan’s most influential voices in entertainment and news, holds a special place in the hearts of many listeners—making the fire a painful shock to fans and residents alike.
