According to a statement from Sheriff’s media office, a viral publication titled “It’s Not Me, It’s Shettima Who Created Boko Haram – Sheriff Reveals” is completely false and aimed at misleading the public and tarnishing his reputation.
Sheriff, who also served as APC National Chairman, clarified that he never gave any interview or made any comment on the matter. “The story is a total falsehood, devoid of truth, and a deliberate attempt to sow discord within the nation’s political landscape,” the statement read.
Describing the publication as a “dangerous piece of fake news,” Sheriff emphasized that it undermines his contributions to peace, unity, and development in Borno State and Nigeria. He reaffirmed his commitment to national stability and condemned the spread of misinformation for political gain.
The former governor’s legal team has been directed to identify and prosecute those behind the report. The statement warned that if the publication is not retracted, Sheriff will seek full legal redress.
Sheriff further urged the public and media to ignore the viral story, stressing his dedication to truth, justice, and accountability.
