He declared war on over-regulation in the EU and made digital transformation the core issue. Last week he repeated the message more forcefully and in distinction from the United States
Munich Security Conference. And this week, before the CDU party conference in Stuttgart, he publicly toyed with the idea of a second term in office and spoke of the “right decisions.” On Friday and Saturday the question arises as to whether his reform crescendo will really lead to decisive action.
