The Vice Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Rev. Fr. Christian Anieke, has become a trending topic after making a surprise nighttime visit to the female hostel — all to ensure no student sneaked out for Davido’s concert in Enugu.
The unexpected inspection reportedly happened on the same night the Afrobeats superstar lit up the city with his sold-out show. In a now-viral video shared on X by @AsakyGRN, Rev. Fr. Anieke was seen walking through the hostel corridors, clipboard in hand, personally taking attendance to confirm every student’s presence.
According to reports, the move was part of the university’s strict rule that prohibits students from attending off-campus events without official permission. The VC’s hands-on approach left many students stunned, with some even heard jokingly chanting Davido’s name as he passed through.
Online reactions have been mixed. One user wrote, “Father Anieke no dey play! Imagine missing Davido’s show because of roll call,” while another commented, “This one pass surveillance o. VC taking attendance himself? Only in Naija!”
Despite the humor surrounding the moment, others commended the VC’s dedication to student safety and discipline. They noted that his unexpected presence showed genuine concern for their well-being, especially at night.
Whether praised or mocked, one thing is certain — after this viral incident, students of Godfrey Okoye University will think twice before sneaking out for any future concerts in Enugu.
