THE Webmark Group, a real estate firm, has unveiled a housing scheme to provide affordable and quality housing solutions for low and middle-income families to tackle the persistent housing deficit across the country.
The group announced the initiative called WECAN on Saturday in Abuja during its 2024 Customers Appreciation event as part of its end of the year activities.
Mr Olanrewaju Ogunfile, the Managing Director of Webmark Estate Services, said that the initiative was structured to accommodate various income levels, with options tailored to individual’s financial capacities.
Ogunfile said that the gesture was to bridge the gap in the housing market and promote sustainable development across the nation.
He said that the scheme would not only focus on providing affordable housing but also integrated free healthcare amenities and food subsidies for residents.
“The scheme is designed to create self-sustaining communities, where residents can access essential services without financial strain.
“Each housing unit will include facilities for healthcare services and residents will benefit from a food subsidy program to ensure food security.’’
According to him, WECAN is a Webmark Alliance Community Project and one of its anchor words is ‘’rent to own a home.”
Ogunfile said WECAN was about creating opportunities for everyone.
“With our rent-to-own model, Nigerians no longer have to pay rent endlessly; instead, they can transition from tenants to homeowners.
“Our vision goes beyond just providing shelter; we want to create vibrant communities, where health and nutrition are prioritised.
“This initiative is a holistic approach to tackling the housing crisis while ensuring that families have access to essential healthcare and adequate nutrition,” he said.
Mr Peter Ajewole, the Programme Manager for the Webmark Empowerment Foundation, , emphasised the foundation’s commitment to empowering vulnerable groups.
He said that the foundation had also sponsored students, conducted health screenings and planted trees as part of its broader humanitarian efforts.
Dr Steven Ben-Joel, the Special Envoy to the African Union and Ambassador Webmark, lauded the project as timely.
“This initiative offers Nigerians an affordable path to home ownership; it is a practical solution to the high cost of living,” he said.
NAN reports that the WECAN project, which will begin March 26, 2025, is expected to attract wide participation from Nigerians who want to own homes and improve their living standards.
