Heartbreak in Lagos as Princess Orelope-Adefulire Loses Only Son After Surgery

Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, has been thrown into deep mourning following the sudden death of her only son, Dr. Oluwafemi Olawale Adefulire.

According to family sources, Dr. Adefulire passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, December 10, 2025, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, shortly after undergoing a surgical procedure.

A relative who spoke to Vanguard described the tragedy as a devastating blow to the family. The late Dr. Adefulire, who lived in the United Kingdom, leaves behind his wife and children, making the loss even more painful for his young family.

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) also confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Thursday, December 11, expressing condolences and acknowledging the emotional weight of the moment on the former deputy governor.

Princess Orelope-Adefulire remains a respected figure in Lagos politics. She served as Deputy Governor from 2011 to 2015 under former Governor Babatunde Fashola and currently holds the position of Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—a role she previously occupied under former President Muhammadu Buhari before being reappointed in 2023.

The news has sent shockwaves through the political community, with many expressing sympathy and offering prayers for the family during this difficult time.
