“I Pray Before Every Kissing Scene” — Daniel Etim-Effiong Opens Up About His Faith and Acting Career

Popular Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Daniel Etim-Effiong, has revealed that he prays to God before performing any kissing scene on set. The actor made this confession during an interview with Channels Television, where he discussed how his faith continues to guide his choices in the movie industry.

Etim-Effiong explained that while many filmmakers include romantic scenes to attract viewers and meet market demand, he approaches such roles with deep spiritual consciousness. According to him, the entertainment market often pushes producers to include kissing or romantic acts because “audiences enjoy emotional connections on screen.”

“The fact that I play a lot of romantic roles means I get to kiss sometimes,” he said. “But before I go on set to do that, I always pray. I ask God for direction and grace to handle it well. People may criticize, but I focus on my calling and purpose.”

He added that his decision to leave his engineering career for acting was a leap of faith, describing storytelling as his divine calling. “My inspiration comes from God. My family is my garden, then my work. Acting for me is more than a job—it’s worship,” he stated.

Etim-Effiong emphasized that, beyond entertainment, his goal is to create films that uplift and inspire audiences, proving that faith and art can coexist beautifully in Nollywood.
