Popular Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta has set social media abuzz after revelations about his massive earnings surfaced online. The disclosure came from veteran actor Mustapha Bakare Otolo, who praised Chatta’s remarkable rise in the film industry during a viral interview.
Otolo explained that while many veteran actors still earn between ₦250,000 and ₦300,000 per movie role, Chatta now commands a staggering ₦5 million per appearance — making him one of the highest-paid actors in the Nigerian movie scene. He noted that Chatta’s consistency, professionalism, and fan appeal have positioned him as one of Nollywood’s most sought-after performers.
“If Ibrahim Chatta appears on a movie set, he has been paid ₦5 million. That’s the amount he currently charges. He is the highest-paid actor presently,” Otolo revealed. “He can do up to 20 jobs in a month. I brought him to my movie ‘Jigi,’ which we shot in Ogbomoso recently.”
The veteran lamented that the widening pay gap between older actors and the new generation has made it harder for many veterans to finance cinema-standard movies. He said most experienced actors can only appear in a few projects monthly due to limited roles and low pay rates.
Chatta, known for his exceptional versatility and deep emotional performances, has become a household name through hit Yoruba and English films. His success story continues to inspire younger talents and reinforce the value of skill, hard work, and consistency in the ever-competitive Nollywood industry.
