The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially approved the executives of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), settling weeks of internal wrangling within the party.
According to the electoral body’s updated list published on its website, former Senate President David Mark has been confirmed as the National Chairman of the party. Former Osun State governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, will serve as the National Secretary, while Mani Ibrahim Ahmad takes the role of National Treasurer. Akibu Dalhatu has been named National Financial Secretary, and Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor from Edo State will function as the National Legal Adviser.
The decision follows intense resistance from a faction of the ADC, which had opposed the use of the party as a platform for the coalition of political leaders seeking to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections. The faction argued that David Mark, Aregbesola, and other pro-coalition figures were not duly registered members of the ADC and therefore had no right to lead the party.
Despite the objections, INEC has formally recognised the David Mark-led executives as the authentic leadership of the ADC, effectively granting the coalition group a legitimate political vehicle ahead of 2027.
