Jandor Declares Fresh Bid for Lagos Governorship in 2027

Former Lagos State governorship candidate, Abdulazeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has announced his intention to contest for the governorship seat again in the 2027 elections. Jandor, who contested under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023 before returning to the All Progressives Congress (APC), made this declaration during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday.

He explained that his decision was a continuation of his political ambition, stressing that there was no higher office available until 2031. “What you heard yesterday is for us to once again express our can-do ability and give a shot at the same seat we pursued during the last electioneering process,” he stated. According to him, since the presidency is not open until after President Tinubu’s tenure, the governorship seat remains his clear focus.

Addressing reports that his name was not listed among those tipped to succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Jandor clarified that he had not engaged proxies to speak for him. “My name cannot be there because I have not sent anyone to speak on my behalf. I am declaring personally that I am running for governor in 2027,” he said.

Jandor further acknowledged that other APC members such as Seyi Tinubu, former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, and Senator Tokunbo Abiru are qualified to contest. However, he highlighted his prior experience as a governorship candidate, noting that he had gone through the electoral process without any major political backing in 2023. He stressed that with the support of the APC structure and President Tinubu, victory would be far more attainable in 2027.

While affirming his commitment to the party’s decision, Jandor pledged that he would support any candidate eventually selected by the APC leadership. “At the end of the day, whoever the party presents will have our full backing. But for me, I am running in 2027, and I have officially declared,” he reaffirmed.
