Kaduna Governor Uba Sani Mocks Opposition After Bye-Election Wins: “No Ballot Box on Twitter”

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has taken a swipe at the opposition following the outcome of Saturday’s bye-elections in the state. Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting on Monday, the governor mocked rival parties for banking too heavily on social media campaigns rather than connecting with real voters.

Governor Sani, whose party – the All Progressives Congress (APC) – clinched two state constituencies and a federal constituency, said political victories are not achieved through “Twitter (X) battles or Facebook noise,” but through grassroots mobilisation and good governance.

“There is no ballot box on Twitter. There is no ballot box on Instagram or Facebook. Elections are won at the grassroots, not on social media,” he stated, drawing laughter from the audience.

The governor stressed that APC’s edge at the polls came from its inclusivity and people-centred policies, while accusing the opposition of chasing online clout instead of engaging with communities. He urged politicians to stop relying on propaganda and instead focus on programmes that directly touch the lives of the people.
