A Magistrate Court sitting in Kano has ordered two popular TikTokers, Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira Yar Guda, to marry within 60 days following their involvement in viral videos deemed “indecent” by the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board.
Presiding Magistrate Halima Wali issued the directive on Monday after reviewing clips showing the duo in romantic displays described as offensive to the moral and religious standards of the state.
The court further directed the Kano State Hisbah Board to facilitate the marriage and ensure compliance within the stipulated timeframe. Magistrate Wali warned that failure to comply would amount to contempt of court.
Additionally, the Chairman of the Censorship Board was mandated to oversee the implementation of the marriage order.
The two content creators had earlier been arraigned for allegedly producing and circulating obscene content on social media. Mai Wushirya was previously remanded in a correctional facility after authorities described his videos with Yar Guda as “immoral and demeaning.”
The Censorship Board insisted that the viral videos violated state laws prohibiting the creation and distribution of sexually suggestive materials.
