The Federal Minister of Economics wants to cut funding for operators of private solar systems – and there is great outrage. Wrongfully. The only risk: psychology.

The federal government’s open day is actually not until June. But from the Ministry of Economic Affairs Katherina Reiche (CDU), new half-finished and still confidential draft laws are constantly being made public. In order to immediately trigger outrage among green politicians, renewable energy lobbyists and some journalists.
The latest example is the 442-page draft for an update of the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), a kind of basic law for the energy transition. Reiche now wants to implement what she has long since announced – cancel the subsidies for small solar systems on house roofs.
