Katsina Anti-Graft Agency Probes School Principals, Local Officials Over ₦188m Fraud

The Katsina State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (KTPCACC) has accused a secondary school principal of selling government property worth “millions of naira” in a fresh corruption probe that spans schools, fertilizer subsidies, and state finances.

In a statement on Sunday, the commission revealed that four principals from schools in Danja, Rimaye, Maigora, and Kurami are currently under investigation for alleged mismanagement of ₦6.6 million in school funds. One of them is also accused of illegally disposing of government assets belonging to his school.

The inquiry is part of a broader investigation into alleged fraud totalling ₦188.6 million across the state. According to KTPCACC, councillors and Community Development Officers diverted about ₦46 million during the distribution of subsidised fertilizer under a state-backed programme.

Several ward officials in Musawa, Malumfashi, Matazu, Faskari, and Funtua local government areas were also implicated in the probe. The sums allegedly pocketed ranged from as little as ₦52,000 to over ₦25 million. The commission added that some suspects had already admitted wrongdoing and begun refunding the money.
