Senator Nenadi Usman, Chairman of the Labour Party’s National Caretaker Committee, has praised the court’s ruling ending the party’s long-running leadership crisis, calling it a triumph for democracy. Speaking to TVC News, she lauded the judiciary for upholding democratic principles and reaffirming the importance of an independent and functional judicial system.
Usman said the judgement resolves the internal tussle that has plagued the Labour Party since 2023, paving the way for reconciliation and rebuilding. She revealed plans to organise congresses at local, state, and national levels, culminating in a national convention to reposition the party as a formidable political force.
Addressing recent defections, including that of former presidential candidate Peter Obi, Usman clarified that those leaving did so with the party’s blessing. She emphasized that the Labour Party is not centred on any individual and expressed confidence that the caretaker committee would now fully assume control of party structures.
