Lady Cries Out as Thieves Steal Her Phone and Borrow ₦198K from Her Bank Account

It was a heartbreaking moment for a young Nigerian lady, Wuraola, who took to TikTok to share the shocking aftermath of a phone theft. According to her, not only did the thieves make away with her phone, but they also went further to borrow ₦198,000 using her bank account.

The emotional clip captured her disbelief as she tried to understand how such a thing could happen. She explained that she didn’t even have any banking app on her phone, making it even more confusing how the thieves accessed her account and managed to secure a loan using her details.

Her story quickly went viral, with several netizens expressing shock and empathy. One user, @Mosh, questioned the process, saying, “My phone has been stolen a couple of times, but they couldn’t access my account because they don’t have my token or PIN. How did they do it?”

Another TikTok user, @Joyous_Luv, shared a similar ordeal, revealing that she once lost her phone and the criminals borrowed ₦450,000 from her Access Bank salary account while also withdrawing ₦200,000 from her GTBank account. “I cried for months,” she confessed, echoing the pain many Nigerians face due to digital banking loopholes.

In her caption, Wuraola wrote, “My life is so private that nobody knows that when they stole my phone and found no money in my account, they borrowed ₦198K from my GTB account.”

Her experience has sparked renewed discussions about mobile banking security and how easily fraudsters exploit stolen devices to access sensitive financial information. Many are now urging banks and telcos to tighten security measures to protect users from such heartbreaking incidents.
