Dr Timehin Adelegbe, a member of the House of Representatives, says he plans to spend over N3 billion for empowerments for his constituents in 2025.
Adelegbe (APC/Owo-Ose Constituency), made this known at a news conference on Sunday in Akure.
He said that in 2024, over N1 billion was spent for empowerment, of which various artisans’ groups and the vulnerable in the constituency benefitted from the programmes.
According to him, apart from the empowerment of individuals and groups, he has also positively impacted in education, agriculture, traditional institution, infrastructure and sports in the constituency.
Reeling out numerous achievements since he became a member of the Green Chamber, Adelegbe said that all his achievements in the constituency were in the public domain for all to see.
The lawmaker also said that he supported vigilante group and provided logistics to the group, for safeguarding lives and property in the constituency.
Adelegbe expressed confidence in local mechanisms and state policing, in addressing insecurity in the country.
“I am a victim of insecurity, having had my younger brother being kidnapped long time ago now, but we are yet to see him.
“So, we, sons and daughters of Okeluse, established a vigilante group and it is adjudged the best in Ondo State. We have supported the group with vehicles and logistics, and we are planning to replicate it in the entire constituency.
“Hardly will any week pass in the House of the Representatives without having a motion on insecurity matters, but I still believe that local arrangement with state policing is the best in tackling insecurity,” Adelegbe said.
He appreciated the constituents for their support, assuring of his commitment of getting more dividends of democracy to them.
