A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Fatoba Olusola Steve, has urged all state governors to rally behind President Bola Tinubu in ensuring the swift and effective implementation of the newly approved Nigeria Forest Security Services (NFSS).
Fatoba, who serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics, and Values, described the President’s move as a timely intervention aimed at tackling insecurity in Nigeria’s forests while reviving confidence in the agricultural sector and stabilising food production.
Speaking in Ado-Ekiti, the lawmaker commended President Tinubu for his “visionary leadership” in addressing the threat of bandits and herdsmen occupying forest areas. He said the initiative reflects the government’s dedication to safeguarding lives, boosting agricultural productivity, and creating a safer environment for farmers.
“I sincerely appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his approval of the Nigeria Forest Security Services,” Fatoba stated. “This bold initiative is a major step toward ending insecurity in rural and agrarian communities. It will not only improve food security but also attract foreign investment and strengthen our economy through agriculture.”
He called on state governments to complement federal efforts by mobilising local communities to support and participate in the forest security exercise. According to him, this collaboration will ensure the effective protection of forest reserves and the restoration of public confidence in rural safety.
Fatoba assured Nigerians that with the successful rollout of the NFSS, farmers and rural residents will soon experience relief from the fear of attacks and displacement. He added that the initiative sends a clear signal—both locally and globally—that Nigeria is serious about security, peace, and economic growth.
