Namibia Celebrates Top 4 Ranking For Safety In Africa

NAMIBIA has been ranked the fourth safest country in Africa by Altezza Travel, a recognition that highlights the nation’s peaceful environment, political stability, and strong tourism infrastructure. The Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism (MEFT) welcomed the accolade, which enhances Namibia’s global reputation as a top travel destination.

Global recognition

According to the rankings, Namibia follows Mauritius in first place, Ghana in second, and Zambia in third. MEFT spokesperson Romeo Muyunda said the achievement reflects Namibia’s commitment to fostering peace and stability.

‘This ranking points out our peaceful nature as Namibians and highlights the collective efforts of our security clusters, law enforcement agencies, and all stakeholders in maintaining law and order,’ Muyunda said.

The MEFT noted that safety is a key factor for both travellers and investors, and the ranking will likely boost Namibia’s appeal among tourists and encourage positive recommendations.

Tourism and safety campaign

The recognition comes as the MEFT continues its tourism safety campaign, conducted in collaboration with the Namibian police, tour operators, and regional councils. The initiative aims to prioritise peace and stability, which Muyunda believes will not only draw more tourists but also attract crucial investments to drive economic growth.

‘Maintaining peace and stability is essential for boosting our tourism sector and enhancing economic development,’ Muyunda added.

Aspirations for the future

While being ranked fourth is a notable accomplishment, the MEFT believes Namibia has the potential to become the safest country in Africa. Muyunda emphasised that the government and stakeholders remain committed to further strengthening the nation’s reputation for safety and security.

Methodology behind the rankings

Altezza Travel, a destination management company based in Tanzania, compiled the rankings by analysing leading global studies, official data, and citizens’ perceptions of safety.

Namibia’s consistent efforts to maintain peace and security have not only earned it this recognition but also strengthened its position as one of Africa’s premier travel destinations.
