National Assembly In Turmoil Over 2026 Budget Defense

THE 2025 approved overhead figure will be used as the overhead provision for 2026. For capital, 70% of the 2025 capital budget will be retained and uploaded as the 2026 capital budget, while the remaining 30% is expected to be released in December before year-end.

The retained 70% must align strictly with government development priorities. No new projects or programmes are to be introduced. The government decided that rather than rollover, the approved 70% will now stand as the 2026 capital provision.

The overhead ceiling remains unchanged, and efforts are underway to ensure full release of the overhead allocation.

The approved ERGP Codes/Lines must also be maintained without any adjustments.
Submission should be made not later than Tuesday 9th December, 2025.

Finally, since the 2026 budget will largely rely on the existing 2025 structure, there may not be any budget defense at the National Assembly.
