A 52-year-old boutique owner, Godwin Emeka, has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport after allegedly excreting 127 wraps of cocaine.
According to NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, Emeka, who operates boutiques in Lagos and Anambra, was apprehended on arrival from Bangkok, Thailand, via Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 941. A body scan revealed that he had ingested substances suspected to be cocaine. NDLEA officers reportedly recovered 58 wraps from his clothing before he excreted an additional 69, bringing the total to 127 wraps weighing 1.388 kilograms.
In the same statement, Babafemi disclosed that NDLEA operatives also intercepted three major drug shipments at a Lagos warehouse, including 1.74 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden in glass ceramics, tramadol, and pentazocine concealed inside vitamin C containers—all bound for the United Kingdom.
Other interceptions included cocaine hidden in handbags to Australia, cannabis disguised as herbal products to the UAE, and black soap tablets laced with drugs intended for Turkey. At the Lagos airport, NDLEA officers also seized 27,510 pills of Rohypnol packed in sachets of alcoholic drinks headed for South Africa.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation, an Italy-based businessman, Enehizena Uyimwen, was arrested for attempting to export over 6,000 drug pills hidden in food items. He confessed to trafficking the drugs for a payment of €945.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), commended the agency’s personnel for their commitment and professionalism, urging them to sustain the momentum in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking nationwide.
