…….. Urges military to intensively engages terrorists around Mandara Mountains

Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (APC Borno South) has applauded efforts of gallant troops in the North East Joint Task Force ‘Operation Hadin Kai’, men of the Civilian Joint Task Force, hunters, Vigilantes and resilient people for repelling yesterday night attack by suspected members of Boko Haram terrorists in Ngoshe community of Gwoza local government area of the state.
This attack which claimed unspecified lives of insurgents without casualty from troops or civilians is coming barely 24 hours when a lone female suicide bomber detonated her Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, killing 12 people with dozens injured at a local food joint in Konduga local government area in Borno Central Senatorial District.
Just yesterday, Ndume held a meeting with stakeholders, mostly Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs in Ashigashiya and Kirawa communities around the Manadara hills of Gwoza and Cameroun republic, where the main agenda of the meeting was centred on how they would go back to their liberated communities and resettled back.
In a press statement signed and made available to our Correspondent on Sunday in Maiduguri, Ndume commend Governor Babagana Zulum for his commitment in the fight against terrorism.
He expressed confidence on the troops at the frontline in addressing the renewed attacks, even as he urged all and sundry to support Nigerian Security agencies in the fight against terrorism, banditry and kidnapping which have become order of the day across the country, especially Northern Nigeria.
While urging the military and other security agencies to intensify operations around the Manadara mountains which harbours quite a number of terrorists, the former Chairman Senate Committee on Army also sympathised with victims of bomb blast in Konduga local government area last Saturday night.
“Let me commend troops of ‘Operation Hadin Kai’ under the leadership of the new Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, the Acting GOC 7 Div, Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu and the Brigade Commander in Gwoza for their job well-done.
“My commendation also goes to the resilient people of Ngoshe for complementing efforts of the security agencies to repel Boko Haram attack in their community yesterday night.
“I will also appeal to the military joint task force such as ground troops and Airforce to deploy more weapons and tactics and engage in a one week sustained operations in the hideouts of terrorists in and around the Manadara mountains.
“Let me also commiserate with the families of those who lost their beloved ones in the Konduga bomb blast that was masterminded by a female terrorist last Saturday. May their Souls Rest in Peace. I want to further wish the injured ones quick recovery and we pray for Allah (God) to grant us peace in our dear state and the country as a whole. End
