Niger Govt Assures Corps Members of Safety, Welfare

Gov. Umaru Bago of Niger has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the safety and welfare of over 2,000 corps members posted to the state.

Bago gave the assurance at the swearing-in ceremony of the corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Paiko on Friday.

The corps members represented the 2024 Batch ‘C’, Stream II Orientation Course of the NYSC.

The governor, who was represented by Mr Joseph Okolo, a Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Head of Service, urged them to adhere to the rules of the camp.

“I urge all corps members to take advantage of the numerous programmes of the NYSC to acquire requisite skills,” Bago said.

The governor advised the corps members to be disciplined and take advantage of the opportunities provided by the scheme, noting that the skills acquired would be a lifelong advantage.

Bago lauded the efforts of the NYSC management, security and other agencies for ensuring the success of each orientation course.

Earlier, Mrs Abdulwahab Olayinka, NYSC Coordinator in Niger, commended the corps members for their patriotism and readiness to participate in the orientation exercise.

Olayinka said the orientation was designed to acquaint the corps members with the scheme’s objectives and prepare them for the expectations of the service year.

She encouraged the corps members to take advantage of the opportunities in the camp to deepen their understanding of the country and foster values of friendship, peace and harmony.
