Just when Nigerians thought it will at least be smooth, for a while, just when commuters are tryimg to heave a sigh of relief and settle down, the Federal Government has once again gifted the nation with a Greek gift by flying its own kite to signal an impending fuel hike, come June next year
This will be the umpteenth time this govt. will be increaing the price of fuel since its inception. This issue has already heated up the polity as most Nigerians are lamenting in anticipation of yet another hardship this will cost them
However, analysing the situation shows that the whole scenario is like a networking business between Nigeria and the IMF. One can remember vividly the billions of dollars the last Government left in the coffers of the nations eternal reserve before it finally handed over to the present Government. Unfortunately, the APC govt. has squandered everything without investing in anythimg tangible for the nation as they were busy sharing the money and claiming to be fighting corruption
As if that is not enough, they remove subsidy on virtually all food items and consumables which would have cushioned the effect of the hardship on the masses.Afer this, they went on a borrowing spree as they borrowed billions upon billions of dollars from the IMF with nothing to show for it. Now, they are talking of paying vulnerable citizens of the country Five Thousand Naira stipend every month to cushion the effect of the hardship
Already, labour unions and other Government parastatals are threatnimg fire and brimstone over the issue and we all know what that means. Giving Five Thousand Naira stipend to vulnerable citizens of the nation is another way of siphoning money as tbe greedy politicians we have will divert the money for their own use. How did the covid 19 fund and palliatives go?This is just another way of giving out money to the corrupt politicians of this govt.so as to support this regime. Can somebody please listen to the intelligent common sense advice given by Sen. Ben Bruce? It is deplorable to note that up till this moment, even with all the money borrowed, Nigeria can not invest in solar powered vehicles or even tricycles and other means of transportation.. The country can not invest in green and clean energy for electricity supply when countries like Tanzania have gone far. What a shame. Perhaps this is the time to look inwards and know that solar and elecrric powered public transport will go a long way to cushion the effect of the hardship
It is very deplorable and provoking when one discovers that this present govt. has completely destroyed all the good works and ideas of the last govt. Imagine the foreign reserve, reducing from billions of extra to billions of deficit, yet everybody remains docile on the issue as if all is well. They just collect money and share. Whar a pity
What people dont know is that both Nigeria and the IMF are doing networking business with this borrowing of a thing. Now, this is how it works. After borrowing from IMF and World Bank and you cant afford to pay back, the IMF will order you to remove subsidy on your major export product and other consumables. The money you make from this subsidy removal is what you pay IMF. So dont be deceived that anybody will pay you Five Thousand Naira stipend. The money realised from the fuel hike in price will be used to service the countrys debt. That is why the promise of using the money realised from fuel subsidy removal to build infrastructure has remained a mirage till date
Its a case of borrowing from Peter to pay Paul. I borrow you money for your business, the gain you make is what you use to pay me back. Period.
